On the morning of December 1, 1885, a fire destroyed a building containing three businesses that once stood where Courthouse Pub stands today. Below is a link to the December 3, 1885 edition of the Ingham County News that describes the fire (scroll to the right side of the page where you see the newspaper name header and view the third column with the heading "Big Blaze").
We've attached a map that shows the location of the businesses and the dwelling mentioned in the article (for reference, the "A. St" labelled at the bottom of the photo is now known as Park St).
